The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band aka NGDB is a country rock band formed in 1966 in Long Beach, California. Founders Jeff Hanna and singer-songwriter-guitarist Bruce Kunkel performed together as the the New Coast Two and later the Illegitimate Jug Band, also recorded as the Dirt Band and The Toot Uncommons. Astonishingly Nitty Gritty are still performing today and released an album of Dylan covers in 2022.
